English language exams 

At our language school, we can prepare you to pass the following exams successfully

English language exams          

Origó English Language Exam

Candidates need to achieve a minimum of 60 % in order to successfully pass this bilingual exam. A printed dictionary can be used in the written part (except for the in test part).

The B1, B2 and C1 level-exams comprise writing assignments, reading comprehension and mediation tasks, as well as listening comprehension and speaking elements. The oral exam consists of a general conversation, picture description and a situation task. On C1 level some further tasks are also included in the exam, these are: summarizing a Hungarian text in the foreign language (instead of translating it), which forms an element of the written and the oral part as well.

EURO English Language Exam

The Euroexams are a suite of English language examinations standardised to the levels of the Common European Framework (CEFR). They are communicative English exams focusing on all four language skills (writing, reading, listening and speaking), and are internationally recognised as CEFR-aligned exams. They test the learners’ ability to use English in a real-life environment. The Euroexams are available at A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels.

ECL English Language Exam

ECL stands for “European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages” and is open to candidates who become 14 years old within that calendar year. It is available at four levels: A2, B1, B2 and C1. The exam consists of a written and a spoken part: the written part is made up of reading comprehension and written communication, whereas the oral part consists of listening comprehension and oral communication. In the reading comprehension part, the candidates must complete two different tasks correctly, they must demonstrate the ability to understand the content of a general text at the appropriate level without using a dictionary. In the written communication task, the candidate must write two compositions on the basis of several bullet points. Printed dictionary may be used. Candidates take the oral part of the exam in pairs. This part consists of a warm-up conversation, a guided conversation and an individual talk. The exam is available as a complex exam or a written or oral partial exam.

TELC (The European Language Certificates)

In TELC (The European Language Certificates) candidates must complete four modules (reading, writing, listening and speaking) to obtain a score. The written examination consists of Reading Comprehension (reading for gist, reading for detail, and selective reading) and language elements, which covers two tasks. In the first task, the candidates are required to accomplish a multiple-choice test choosing from three different alternatives. In the second task, the candidates are required to complete a text with ten words choosing from 15 words. The part Language Elements tests grammatical accuracy and vocabulary as well. The listening task comprises three types of tasks: Listening for gist, listening for detail, and selective listening. The writing task consists of only one part. The candidate can choose from two situations and has to write a formal letter (letter of application, letter of complaint or letter of inquiry). The Oral examination normally takes place with two candidates. The examination is intended to have the character of a conversation, not an interrogation. The main task of the examiners is to supervise the conversation. They are instructed to say as little as possible. The candidates should have an active conversation with each other. The oral examination lasts about 15 minutes. In the presentation part, the candidates should present something briefly (max 90 seconds) to their partner. They can choose from two topics. After the presentation, the candidate has to answer the questions his/her partner asks. The same procedure applies to all candidates: presentation, questions and answers. Discussion: In this part of the examination, the candidates will have a discussion on a controversial topic. The candidates have to present the arguments or points they think are interesting. In the discussion which follows, they will be expected to give their own opinion on the topic concerned. Task: In this part of the examination, the candidates will be given a task to carry out. The candidates will be given only the situation and will have to think of the details themselves. Duration Reading and Language elements: 90 minutes, writing: 30 minutes, listening: 25-30 minutes and speaking: 15-20 minutes.

TOEFL  (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a standardized academic English test primarily taken by students applying to universities in the United States. However, it is also accepted as proof of English ability by some universities outside the United States. The TOEFL is actually a suite of tests, the most popular of which is the TOEFL iBT. The TOEFL iBT is composed of four sections – readinglisteningspeaking, and writing. It is a long and rigorous test (over 4 hours) designed to assess whether or not students are ready to study in an English-speaking university.

IELTS International Language Examination

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you work, study or migrate to a country where English is the native language. This includes countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and USA.

Your ability to listen, read, write and speak in English will be assessed during the test. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9.  

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.

IELTS is the most popular test for those looking to migrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. It is globally recognised by more than 11,000 employers, universities, schools and immigration bodies including 3,400 institutions in the USA. 

Mid-level final exam in English

In our final exam preparatory course we will practice all exam tasks thoroughly. We will make several complete tests and practice every situation of the oral exam as well. Our students will reach high competence and will be equipped to participate in the final exam with confidence.

Advanced-level final exam in English

The advanced-level final exam poses a considerable challenge on the students, that is why it is essential to have a thorought knowledge and good understanding of the exercise types and not to be satisfied with a general high command of the English language. At our course we will practice every exam element several times and in full detail. We will model every single task of the oral part, thus preparing our students to successfully pass the examination
